Newberry County, SC crime data

The Newbery County Sheriff’s Office definitely had better luck with property crimes than with violent crimes in 2019. In terms of the latter, there was an increase of almost 10%, with incident rates going from 162 to 178.

While this may not come across as alarming, the violent crimes category includes such offenses as homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. In the same year, property crimes declined by approximately 8%, going from 883 complaints to 822.

From 2002 to 2008, approximately 7,500 crimes were committed in Newberry County. Of those crimes, almost 1,000 were considered violent, including nine murders and 69 rapes.
